Greetings Alumni,
The Raleigh-Wake North Carolina Central University Alumni Association continues to be a pillar in Wake County. And now it is my honor and privilege to serve this great alumni association as your 2021-2023 President. One of the association’s many goals is to promote higher education at NCCU through scholarships. Over the past year, the Scholarship Committee has worked tirelessly to improve outreach to the community and use novel ways to raise scholarship funds for students. Your continued support of the scholarship program will allow this activity to grow and benefit even more students. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis, Raleigh-Wake Chapter sponsored a food drive for Mary’s Pantry that yielded more than 549 pounds of nutritious food for needy families. We also showed our commitment by donating a kid’s bicycle and helmet to the Richard B. Harrison Community Library in support of their children’s reading program. Although these events were accomplished during the pandemic, I am committed to providing you with continuous policy updates. The ongoing pandemic has caused our landscape to constantly change. Therefore, the health and safety of Raleigh-Wake Chapter members is at the center of our planning to include in-person meetings. The Executive Committee will be convening to discuss future meetings with the membership whether in-person or remotely. The Raleigh-Wake Chapter has always been connected to the NCCU campus and local community. This connection is made by our committees which enhance our general profile and attract new members. We need your help to build and strengthen our committees. The members of our chapter have a wide array of talents. I will be contacting you to volunteer to serve on a committee that best fits your talents. I know you will answer the call. Finally, as I reflect on events since the COVID-19 outbreak, I am disheartened by the passing of our fellow Eagles. Let us model their example of life to renew the foundation they built and soar to greater heights in Truth & Service.
Sincerely,
Anthony Bonapart
President, Raleigh-Wake Chapter
